Losing Weight God's Way

A 100 lbs Weight Lost! In the before picture, I weighed 240 pounds. I was very unhappy, sick and in a world all by myself. I was smiling, but very unhappy on the inside. Blood pressure was high, Sugar level was at 600. The doctor said I was too sweet(600) reading. I knew I had to do something. The nurse gave me a big bag of medication, and told me I had to take it for the rest of my life. I thought about it because I hate taking medicine. When I was a little girl, cough medicine would make me sick. The nurse told me that I could reverse the diabetes and High Blood Pressure if I changed my diet, lose 100 pounds and exercise. daily. I prayed about it. At the time Macedonia Baptist Church went on the Daniel's Fast for 40 days. I went on the fast, and I start noticing a change in my body. My blood pressure went down, my sugar level went down, and I start losing weight. The 40 day fast was over, but I stayed on the Daniel's Fast for 2 years, and I lost 100 pounds. My blood pressure and diabetes' reading was normal. I felt so good! At the time, When I went shopping, I had to purchase a size 22 outfit (that would always bother me) Now, I can purchase an 8-10. I did it God's Way. I thank God for the doctors because we need them. Continue to go to your doctors because they play an important role in our life. Let them tell you that you are doing very good with your health. The Daniel's Fast is awesome! Sometime, I come off it for Special Holidays - Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Anniversary, but the following week I get back on it because my body is use to eating healthy. I would like to talk to you a little bit about the 7 principles of Being Healthy.

1. Prayer & Fasting (Somethings come by Fasting & Praying)

THEY ARE TWO MOST POWERFUL WEAPONS:

Mark 9:25- 29 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, [Thou] dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And [the spirit] cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Fasting and prayer is one of the most powerful spiritual combinations on earth. True fasting brings humility and alignment with God. It breaks the power of flesh. It kills unbelief and brings answers to prayer when nothing else works. It has been well said that prayer is not preparation for the battle - prayer IS the battle. And of all the things we can do to enhance the power and focus of prayer, fasting is doubtless the most potent.

2. God's Word - (Our GPS God's Preparation Service)

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Psalms 12:6

The Words of God promise salvation, eternal life, righteousness, redemption, deliverance, protection, prosperity, healing and wholeness of spirit, soul and body. We need to read God's words daily. Whatever we are going thur, we will find the answer in God's word.

3. Holy Spirit

Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation--but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Roman 8:12

Just like Spirit-led recovery from addiction works, so does Spirit-led weight-loss, or Spirit-led anything for that matter. You see, the Holy Spirit knows everything about you, your mind body, soul, and what you actually need to lose all your excess weight. He also knows what kind of diet and exercises program would work for you best, what kind of healing that you need to not eat to soothe unhealed emotional pain, and what physical healing that you need that has been causing your body to gain weight. The Holy Spirit is the Master teacher and counselor so you can count on Him to give you a weight-loss plan that really works for you.

4. Faith - (I had faith that I was going to lose those 100 pounds)

Faith is a spiritual substance. When you have this spiritual substance in you, it communicates to you a certain inner knowing that the thing you are hoping for is certainly established, even before you see any material evidence that it has happened.

Faith is a spiritual force. Faith in God is a response to God's Word which moves God to act. Jesus said in Mark 11:23, "For assuredly I say to you, whoever SAYS to this mountain, 'Be removed and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but BELIEVES that those things he SAYS will be done, he will HAVE whatever he SAYS." Words mixed with the real, pure faith can and will move mountains or any other problem that we face.

Faith in God must be from the heart. It is not merely intellectual. It is spiritual. "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:10) Faith causes you to know in your heart before you see with your eyes. "For we walk by faith, not by sight." (2Cor 5.7) Some say, "Seeing is believing." Once you see the thing hoped for already existing in the natural order, you don't need faith.

Hope is a condition for faith. Hope is "a positive unwavering expectation of good". Hope is for the mind (1 Thessalonians 5:8; Hebrews 6:19), an anchor for the soul. It keeps us in the place where we can believe, but it is not in itself "faith". Yet, without hope there are no "things hoped for", and therefore there cannot be faith.

5. Healthy Eating - on your left hand side. Click on Daniel's Fast and read about the Healthy Eating on The Daniel's Fast.

6. Exercise

How does exercise glorify God?

“You must exercise three times a week ( and make sure one of those days is a good cardio work out).” But we do read in 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” Every minute of our lives is to be lived for the glory of God, and exercise is a wonderful means of helping us live for the glory of God. How? By extending our years of service to God, and by making us more effective in serving the Lord.

Exercise Extends Our Years of Serving God

Have you ever considered that exercise could be the difference between serving God for 60 years or serving God for 100 years? Think about this for a moment. Maintaining a healthy body could result in God giving you many additional years to care for your spouse. Staying in good shape could result in God allowing you to share the gospel with hundreds of additional people. Those endless miles on the treadmill could result in many additional years of faithfully serving your church. Yes, I understand that God has numbered our days. In his sovereignty, God knows exactly how many days we will live upon this earth. But God uses means, and exercise is a means of adding years of fruitful labor to our lives.

7. Drinking Plenty of Water

Your body is estimated to be about 60 to 70 percent water. Blood is mostly water, and your muscles, lungs, and brain all contain a lot of water. You need water to regulate body temperature and to provide the means for nutrients to travel to your organs and tissues. Water also transports oxygen to your cells, removes waste, and protects your joints and organs.

Signs of Dehydration You lose water through urination, respiration, and by sweating, and you lose more water when you're active than when you're sedentary. Symptoms of mild dehydration include chronic pains in joints and muscles, lower back pain, headaches and constipation. A strong odor to your urine, along with a yellow or amber color, indicates that you may not be getting enough water. Note that riboflavin, a B vitamin, will make your urine bright yellow. Certain medications can change the color of urine as well. Thirst is an obvious sign of dehydration, and in fact, you need water before you feel thirsty.

How Much Do You Need to Drink?

At least twenty percent of the water you need comes from the foods you eat. The rest comes from the beverages you drink. Water is probably the best choice because it's cheap and has no calories or added ingredients. Sweetened soft drinks and sodas have added sugar that adds extra calories. Sports drinks contain minerals that may help keep your electrolytes in balance, but look out for added sugar and calories that you may not want. Fruit and vegetable juices are good because they have vitamins and minerals (read labels, however -- vegetable juices may be high in sodium).
